ñami

Hi!

On this occasion, I'm going to tell you about one of best things created by God, destiny or someone important: food. When stress makes me think that life is not worth living, food always appears to remind me that life is wonderful. Eating produces an immeasurable pleasure.

I love all kind of pasta dishes: lasagna, noodles, spaghetti, ravioli or cannelloni, and if this is with a good sauce, like Alfredo, Bolognese or pesto sauce, then I will reach into the heavens. If I had to choose a combination, I would prepare ravioli with Alfredo sauce. I think this is my favorite food dish.

I'm not good as a cook, in general in my house I don't cook, however, I make food in my house when I'm alone. In general, my food isn't good, however, I remember once I did an incredible dish with the little remaining food. It was a mixture of white sauce, tomato sauce, noodles and tuna. It was great.

Oh, I forgot, the dessert is very important and I think nothing beats chocolate. Oh, I got hungry from so much writing about food.

Bye

the music in my life

Since I was born, the music has been around me because my family, despite of they aren't professional musicians, they always have had a special value for this. I think that the music, over time, has been forming my ideas and my way of being. My parents enjoyed listen to records the Silvio Rodriguez, Los Prisioneros, Los Tres, Inti Illimani, Quilapayún, Los Jaivas, Congreso and many others related, and for me, it was inevitable build a social consciousness. However, when I was growing up and I was a teenager, I started search new music and discover new worlds. In this way and listening Dream Theatre, Angra, Sonata Arctica and others, I found the best music of the universe: the progressive rock. I think that my mind can't stop love it. The most memorable concert that I had opportunity of living, it was when Magma played in the Aula Magna of Federico Santa María University. Their music and the acoustic of this room, it was a perfect combination.

It's very difficult decide what is my favorite bands, but I think that King Crimson, Magma and Sigur Ros are in my top five, even though Sigur Ros isn't a band of progressive rock, I like that. This band has been categorized as a post-rock band and this musical genre caught my attention in recent times. One of the things I desire in life, it's see Sigur Ros in a concert.

subcello

"SubCello" is a photo taken at the beginning of this year by my university colleague Patricio Isaías. The photo shows a student of our faculty practicing cello in the building basement.

A picture is worth a thousand words. It's not always true, but in this case the image evokes me an explosion of different ideas. It's very interesting. What strikes me is the many things in this photo that are representing an appalling situation for the art education. In first place, the simple fact that she isn't studying in a classroom. Second, she is using the stairs for two things: put her scores and engage the endpin of cello to prevent the slipping of it. And finally, she had to leave her books on the floor probably because there wasn't a table for them. It's really sad.

For me, this photo represents the devaluation of arts education and remember me that in this country the arts aren't understood as a human need.

maga

This my beloved pet, it's name is Maga. She's a beautiful black cat, came to my home three years ago and she has accompanied us in every family moments.

When she arrived and was very young, we knew she had several diseases :( But a period of time she stopped having symptoms. We believe it was for the incredible survival instincts of animals. Actually she has a very healthy state :)

At the beginning of 2013 something strange happened: she had babies in her first estrus :O
For my family it was a nice and unexpected moment. After the kittens were born we had to give them away, because it's very expensive to keep as many animals.

My family loves her because she's quiet and affectionate, she doesn't like to complain or run back and forth. She's also very tender, when someone goes near her, she stretches her paws to be pet.

Cats are the greatest!

expectations

This is a year with an unexpected future.

It's my fifth year at university and it's necessary to clarify the direction of my life in professional terms. I'm very anxious.

Right now I'm taking many courses (like twelve), because I have great enthusiasm for learning. Besides, I participate in plenty organizations and groups. I'm member of the Commission of Curriculum Innovation of Musical Composition, the Sorbete Letelier journal, Canto Crisol and Trueque bands, and Victor Jara popular schoolhouse.

This year I also decided to take singing lessons, because it has always been a difficult area for me. My musical groups are growing and I want to be a great contribution to these projects.

I hope take advantage of my classes, because this year they're interesting!

I wish that I could find enough time to do everything.

bye!

a latin american composer

In this opportunity I tell you about a great composer.

He is Gustavo Santaolalla

He is a musician and music producer Argentinian, composer of a lot of music for films, and even music for video games. He won in two occasions the Academy Awards, the Oscars, for Best Original Score, with the films Babel and Brokeback Mountain. His first great award was with the Diarios de Motocicleta's music in the British Academy Film Awards during the year 2005. Besides, he has been nominated and awarded in many others films: Amores Perros, Biutiful, Relatos Salvajes and others. As if that were not enough, he had he did the music for an amazing game of Playstation called Last of Us and he produced the album "Corazones" of the Chilean musical group Los Prisioneros.

I consider him a great composer not only because his music is exciting, but because it always includes some Latin American identity in his art. For example, he generally includes Latin American instruments like the charango or ronroco for many of the songs that made for famous films. Have that authenticity and be recognized internationally is striking.

my favorite gadget

¡hello!

I'm going to tell about my favorite piece of technology, my pretty...

Tascam DR-40

It's a professional portable recorder, that can be used for many situations: concerts, interviews, rehearsals, protests, in the nature and many others. It have two adjustable microphones, four track recording and extended battery life (oh yeah).

I got this gadget to one year ago in a music store at the art gallery of Crown Plaza Hotel, very near from Baquedano. I had spend all my savings.

I used it fundamentally for accompany me in my music studies. With the tascam I record my music rehearsals or music concerts, besides I like record in natural environments: forests, beaches, mountains, and hear the bird's chant.

I don't use it frequently, because I have many things to do, and the time doesn't be enough. But when I can used it, I love go for a walk in the city or different places and record. Then, in my house I listen what I recorder, and experiment with the music softwares.

If I haven't it, I try write environment sounds in a sheet music book... this would be very difficult.

Well, here I lend a video more explanatory:
